There he catalogued the university book collection, by the time he left four years later, he had already classified over 1,00,000 books personally, there developed a man, there developed a science-Library science and its doyen.

He headed the Indian library Association from 1944 to 1953.While at Delhi he drafted a comprehensive 30 year plan for the development of an advanced library System for whole of india. He briefly moved to Switzerland from 1955-57 and studied extensively about European library science and systems, many of the people where mesmerized by his knowledge of library science. His other major contribution being establishment of indian statistical Institute at Bangalore in 1962.
